Funeral services for Thelma L. Ramsey, 94, a resident of Hope Creek, East Moline, are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd.,, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 9 AM until service time. Thelma died Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Thelma Griffin was born February 10, 1917 in Spickard, MO, the daughter of Claude and Rosa (Moore) Griffin. She married Joe Ramsey on June 1, 1937. Joe died October 2, 1982. Thelma retired as a presser from FW Means after 21 years of service. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and occasional trips to the riverboats. She loved listening to her son's band, music at the American Legion on Sunday nights and was the self proclaimed greatest Charleston Dancer around. Survivors include her children and spouses: Gurtha and Ralph Harker, East Moline, Nancy and Denny VanTieghem, Silvis and J.D. and Alice Ramsey, East Moline, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe, four sisters and 3 brothers.
