Theodore A. Kloppenborg, 87, East Moline, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his home. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kibera Nursery. Ted was born July 7, 1925 in Rapids City, IL, the son of John and Marie (Merten) Kloppenborg. He served in the US Army Infantry during WWII. He married Dolores Berndt on May 1, 1948 at St. Joe's, Rock Island. He had been a very active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Ted retired as a die sinker, in 1991 after 40 years with Frizzelle and Parsons, Moline. He had been a member of the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening and being with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Dolores, children and spouses, Julie and Terry Olson, Sherrard, Ted and Vickie Kloppenborg, Sherrard, and Tim and Jackie Kloppenborg, East Moline, grandchildren, Tracey, Tony, Danielle and Andy, and a sister, Mary Mapes, Bettendorf. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles, son Thomas, six brothers and 3 sisters.
