IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theresa M.
Sandoval
May 29, 1932 – June 26, 2019
Theresa Sandoval has joined the love of her life, Ed Sandoval, in their new home within the pearly gates. Mrs. Sandoval passed away at her home in Moline on June 26, 2019.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. East Moline, where a rosary will recited at 12:30. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum.
Theresa was born in May 1932 to Louis Goderis and Irma Beheydt Goderis Neels, the youngest of four siblings. Her father died of cancer when she was 11 months old, her mother raised her and her siblings as a single parent. She met Eddie Sandoval during her high school years at UTHS. Although society balked at an inter-racial relationship during the forties and fifties their love blossomed. After high school Theresa worked at Consumers and Plow Company waiting for Eddie to come home from Germany where he was serving his country in the Army. When he returned they married on September 18, 1954. Theresa worked at Plow Company until 1955. In October of that year their first daughter Cindy was born. Almost 10 years later in August of 1964 their second daughter Tina made her appearance.
Theresa and Eddie were married just one month short of 60 years. Eddie passed away in August of 2014 and she has missed him everyday since.
Theresa counted on her friends to make life fun. Liz Desseyn, Mary Lou Kean, B.J. Keegan and Mary Ann Meincke kept her laughing during their many card games. Mary Jo Polaschek also helped her look at life in the best possible light. Her neighbor Phyllis Owens was a great lunch buddy.
Special thanks to Dr. Okba who treated Theresa as if she was his own mother. She couldn't have asked for a more dedicated and loving doctor. He helped us keep her comfortable to her last. Thanks also to her son-in-law Bob Hallmark who did whatever job was asked of him during his marriage to daughter Cindy. From chef, to plumber, to lawn master to caretaker. Mmm, mmm, turkey sausage.
Theresa is survived by her two daughters: Cindy (Bob) Hallmark and Tina Sandoval. She also has a sister Dorothy (Darrell) Parker. Several in-laws are also still surviving: Georgia Herrera, Mercedes Munoz, Eloise Sandoval, Tanilo (Connie) Sandoval and Sam Vasquez. Many nieces and nephews survive her as well.
She is preceded in death by her husband Ed, brothers Joseph (June) Goderis, Robert
(Mary) Goderis, half siblings Palmer (Martha) Goderis, Elsie Robinson and Mary Peterson.
