Funeral services for Thomas J. "TJ" Cervantes, 65, Rock Island, are 10 AM Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 2-6 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at the conclusion of visitation. T.J. died Friday, October 17, 2008 at Trinity West, Rock Island, surrounded by his family. A Memorial fund has been established for a donation to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. He was born March 24, 1943 in Moline, the son of Thomas and Helen (Alatorre) Cervantes. T.J. retired from the former Case in Rock Island. He was a Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears Fan. T.J. loved being with his family and friends. He enjoyed good Mexican food and music, and when he was able, he enjoyed playing pool and dancing. Survivors include his children; Thomas Cervantes Jr., Des Moines, IA, Elizabeth Cervantes, Kenosha, Wisconsin, Ann Cervantes, Bettendorf, IA, and Michael Cervantes, Mattoon, IL, and four grandchildren. His siblings and spouses include; Mary Martinez, Atalissa, IA, Linda (Higinio) Casas, East Moline, Carmen (Enrique) Sandoval Sr., East Moline, Roseann (Fernando) Alejo, East Moline, Charles (Sara) Cervantes, Silvis, Richard (Maricela) Cervantes, Rock Island, Robert (Alesia) Cervantes, Silvis, Paul Cervantes, East Moline and John (Kathy) Cervantes, Milan. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Patty and brother Roberto.
