Funeral services for Thomas R. Dawson, 66, of Moline, IL, will be 1:30 PM Thursday at The Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Dawson died Monday, April 17, 2006 at home. Memorials may be made to the family for his son, Daniel's Long Term Care. Tom was born January 19, 1940 in Adams County, IL, the son of Albert and Ida (Campbell) Dawson. He married Deborah Miljush, October 2, 1976 in Moline, IL. She died October 31, 2002. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Yellow Freight in 2000, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals. He was very patriotic and was proud to have served his country. The most important thing to Tom was his family. He had been a devoted husband and father. Survivors include: sons, Robert Dawson of Bellview, FL, Daniel Dawson of Moline, IL; grandson. Jeremy Dawson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Roy Sims of East Moline, IL, Carol Beardsley of Moline, IL, Rose Mary and Bill Hirasawa of Lander WY; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Inez Dawson of Wesley Chapel, FL, Mike and Hae Jueng Dawson of Houston, TX, Mark Dawson of Pittsburg, CA.
