Thomas E. Evans, 74, East Moline, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne Church or to Trinity Pathway Hospice. He was born August. 7, 1937 in Bowling Green, MO, the son of Russell J and Mary E (Jones) Evans. He married Marie Esposito on August 24, 1957 at St. Anne's Church. Tom served his machinist apprenticeship at Moline Tool and later retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1993, as Chief of Manufacturing & Supply-Quality Director. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and time with friends. In earlier years raised beagles, raced pigeons and was a catcher on the ISC Fast Pitch World Championship Team in the 1960's. Most of all Tom loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of nearly 54 years, Marie, children: Tamela (Lee) Rieck, Darren Evans (Michelle Heaton), Shelly Reynolds, and Damon (Christine) Evans; grandchildren; Kristine (Bobby), Marian, Suni (Michael), Michael, Jacob Thomas, Justin, Nicolette, Christian and Renae, and great-grandchildren; August, Austin Thomas, Avery and Katlyn. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers; William, Russell Jr., and Richard.
