Funeral services for Thomas Laethem, 55, Moline, are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Tom died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. He was born January 8, 1955 in Moline, the son of Albert and Margaret (Donahue) Laethem. He married Linda Doubler in June of 1982 in Galva, IL. Tom had worked at Iowa Illinois Armored and most recently as a material handler at Wal-Mart in Davenport. He was a talented handy-man who would go out of his way to help others. He lived for the game of Golf. Survivors include his sons; Clint of Lafayette, IL and Adam stationed at Ft. Lee, VA, his mother Margaret, East Moline, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Dan Herweg, Roselle, IL and brother and sister-in-law Paul and Karen Laethem, Moline. He was preceded in death by his father Albert who died April 1, 2010. Through Thomas' death he gave the gift of sight by being a cornea donor.
