Thomas Joseph Sheley, 80, East Moline, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-8 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., where a liturgy service will be read at 3:15 PM. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe or to the Disabled American Veterans. Tom was born on November 18, 1935 at the family home in East Moline, the son of Earl and Aline (Schulte) Sheley. He served in the US Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He married Luanne Marie Riskedahl on June 7, 1958 at St. Anne Church, East Moline. He retired as Bindery Supervisor from Desaulnier's Printing. Tom enjoyed woodworking and was always available to help family and friends with their building projects. He loved horses and trail riding. Tom was a great husband, partner, father and Papa. Survivors include his wife, Luanne, children; Daniel (Christina) Sheley, East Moline, Richard (Kimberly) Sheley, Mesa, AZ, Beth Ann (Mark) Boens, Sherrard, IL, Joseph (Brenda) Sheley, Meeteetse, WY and Mary Kay (Vince) Kalkowski, Cody, WY, ten grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and his brother, Richard (Lois) Sheley, Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert and grandson, Michael.
