Funeral services for Thomas J. Simcox, 97, of Silvis, IL, will be 1:00 PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Friday. Mr. Simcox died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Silvis United Methodist Church, Silvis. Mr. Simcox was born March 30, 1910, the son of John and Rosetta (David) Simcox. He married Elizabeth Gumber in 1932. He later married Marian Weigle April of 1952 in Rock Island, IL. He had served with the Merchant Marines during WWII. He retired from the former International Harvester East Moline Works in 1970 after 30 1/2 years of service. He had been a member of the Silvis United Methodist Church, Silvis Senior Citizens, and he bowled with the Highland Park Seniors. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Donna Simcox-Stewart and Richard Stewart of Nalcrest, FL; sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel and Colette Simcox of Fort Pierce, FL, Thomas and Diane Simcox Jr. of Silvis, IL, David and Corky Simcox of East Moline, IL, Timothy and Judy Simcox, Bettendorf, IA; 15 grandchildren ; 24 great-grandchildren.
