A memorial visitation for Thora A. Mercer-Bjerke, 78, formerly of East Moline, IL will be 11:00AM to 1:00PM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Graveside service and burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Thora passed away peacefully on October 13, 2013. She was born on April 25, 1935 in Bloomington, Illinois to Heinrich Harms and Maude Schneider-Harms. She was raised in Minonk and Peoria, Illinois and spent most of her adult life in East Moline, Illinois before moving to Naples, Florida in 2004. She attended Peoria Central High School and Illinois Wesleyan University. She is survived by her husband Don Bjerke of Naples, Florida, her ex-husband Jay Mercer of Princeton, Illinois, her son Marcus Mercer of Lisle, Illinois, her son Kyle Mercer of Naples, Florida, her grandson Skylar Mercer and granddaughter Searra Mercer of Naples, Florida.
