Tim Sanderlin, 67, of Hillsdale, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa, after a brief illness. The family will greet friends at Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd. 1500 6th St, East Moline, on Sunday, August 5, from 2:00 to 5:00pm. A funeral service will be at 10:00am on Monday, August 6, at Van Hoe Funeral Home with Pastor J. Kregg Farmer officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Camp Joy Radio, Sabga, Cameroon, West Africa, in care of Woodside Baptist Church, 8500 E Alameda Ave, Denver, CO 80247. Timothy Lee Sanderlin was born June 23, 1951, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Otha and Maud Baggett Sanderlin. He grew up in Portsmouth, Ohio, and trusted Christ as his Savior as a boy of ten. He graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1969 and met Janet Peterson, of Green Rock, at Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio. They were married on September 8, 1972 in East Moline. Tim was drafted into the U.S. Army in October 1972 and was stationed in South Korea and around the United States, including the Rock Island Arsenal. He graduated from Regis College in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management.​ ​Tim retired as a Captain in 1992 from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and started Sanderlin Heating & Cooling in 1995 in Carbon Cliff. He built his business by word-of-mouth and his many customers knew his integrity, commitment, and work ethic. Tim was a charter member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Believers Baptist Church in Coal Valley. He cherished the Word of God and enjoyed his vast personal library, antiquing, renovating and maintaining his hobby farm, and visits from his children and grandchildren. His wife was his world, and his living out Ephesians 5:25 is his legacy. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years, Janet; daughters Jessica (Andy) Wredberg of Waterloo, Wisconsin, and Emily Sanderlin of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; sons Sam (Abby) Sanderlin of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Jim (Jill) Sanderlin of Hillsdale, and Chris (Laura) Sanderlin of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; sisters Kay (Ben) Gillilan of Columbus, Ohio, and Debbie (Warren) Throckmorton of Grove City, Pennsylvania; brothers Ron Sanderlin of New Hampshire, and Ken (Silvia) Sanderlin of Portsmouth, Ohio; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Lyle and Marjorie Peterson of Colona and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Tim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Otha Sanderlin and Bill Sanderlin.
