Funeral services for Athanasios "Tom" Apostolopoulos, 85, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 3-7 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 6:30PM. Mr. Apostolopoulos died Friday, January 27, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Athanasios was born December 23, 1920 in Kalamata, Greece, the son of Theodoros and Panaiota (Doulis) Apostolopoulos. He married Anastasia "Anna" Halnaridou June 29, 1947 in Thessalonika, Greece. While living in Greece he had been a police officer. He and his wife moved to the United States in 1974. He had worked for Quad City Die Cast for 11 years, retiring in 1989. He had been a member of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, where he had served as a Board Member. Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Anna Apostolopoulos of East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Theodoros and Noula Apostolopoulos of Thessalonika, Greece, Gus Apostolopoulos of East Moline, IL, George and Deborah Apostolopoulosof Moline, IL; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Sophia Mihalopoulos of East Moline, IL, Frosini Spiropoulos of Kalamata, Greece. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Katherina.
