Funeral services for L. Thomas Boyd, 67, East Moline, are 10:30 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Tommy died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. He was born September 19, 1942 in Stonington, IL, the son of Hunter Thomas and Emma Elvina Boyd. He married Barbara June on June 11, 1989 at Velie's in Moline. They were the love of each other's life. Tommy was employed as a district manager for over 25 years with Burger King Corp and Nath Corp, before fulfilling his dream in 1998 and becoming the Proprietor of tommy's in Moline. He enjoyed running his business and being with his friends. He loved music, especially jazz and the blues. Tommy's favorite times of the year were Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day. He enjoyed watching baseball and football with the guys and traveling with his wife and friends. Tom had a distinct personality, one that was all his own. Once you got to know him, he was a friend forever. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Barbara June, children and spouses; Anthony and Linda Boyd, Indianapolis, IN, Thomas Boyd, Indianapolis, Tammy and Greg Smith, Stonington, and Tina McQueen, Phoenix, AZ, numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers James and Dale. Tommy you will be greatly missed!
