Travis D. Stanley , 71, of Thompson, IL, formerly of East Moline, IL, passed away Monday December 2, 2024, at University of Iowa Medical Center, Iowa City.

In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to Heartland Pet Welfare, Savanna, IL.

Travis was born April 29, 1953, in Moline, Illinois, a son of Birt F. and Lucille E. (Burns) Stanley. He graduated from Moline High School, Class of 1972. He married Geri Lynn Waggoner on October 24, 1992, in East Moline. She preceded him in death on January 29, 2022.

Travis was a professional truck driver. He began driving with M & S Transfer and E & D Trucking. He then was an owner-operator for 30 years.

In earlier years, he was a member of the Coal Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Travis loved wrenching on cars, fishing and junking. You would always find him fixing something or helping someone in need. He loved sitting around a good fire with his family and friends sharing stories. Travis was always on his phone calling those he loved, and those phone calls will surely be missed. His animals were his constant companions in his later years and he was a devoted dog dad to them. Travis was unique and one of a kind, his loyalty and love for people was unmatched.

Surviving are his daughter, Jenny (Kenny) Nyquist, Port Byron, IL; son, Joshua (Genie) Stanley, Kewanee, IL; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved pet-dogs, "Judo", "Baby girl" and "Junior".

Travis was preceded in death by his wife, Geri Lynn; daughter, Jackie Hockaday; parents, Birt and Lucille; and siblings, Dale Stanley and Debra Graham.
