Funeral services for V. Ruth Sergeant, 82, East Moline, are 11 AM Monday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Mrs. Sergeant died Friday, July 20, 2007 at Trinity Terrace Park, Bettendorf, IA. Virginia Fletcher was born August 2, 1924 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Robert and Ollie (Cave) Fletcher. She married Mitchell Sergeant on May 12, 1951. He died May 29, 1970. In earlier years Ruth had worked at Servus Rubber Company, Rock Island and later provided in home childcare. She was very active in her church belonging to the Glory Circle, United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School and provided childcare at the church. She is survived by a sister Adeline Smith, Moline, nieces, nephews and several special friends.
