Funeral services for Vada J. Simoens, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church East Moline, IL, where she had been a lifetime member. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation will be 3-7 Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6PM. Mrs. Simoens died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Vada Ryan was born November 6, 1925 in Erie, IL, the daughter of Frank and Nona (Palmer) Ryan. She married Leon L. Simoens, October 31, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. She had worked at the former Licorice Factory, Moline. She later worked for Hallmark at Southpark, Moline and finally, The Book Emporium, East Moline. She was a member of the Kings Daughters, Silvis Women's Club and the Silvis/Carbon Cliff FOE Auxiliary #1839. Leon and Vada enjoyed traveling together. She enjoyed going on the boats and gambling. She was very proud of the fudge she made for her family. After Vada turned 50 years old, she received her GED by home study. Survivors include: her husband of 63 years, Leon Simoens of East Moline, IL; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Simoens of Silvis, IL, Stephanie and Michael Smith of Milan, IL; grandchildren, Richard II, Robert, Michael and Kristine Moller, Kelle Hunter, Timothy Smith; great grandchildren, Meagan, Richard III, Samantha, Sterling, Jace and Madison Moller, Spencer and Logan Hunter, Daniel and Isaac Smith; sister, Donna Smith of Rock Island, IL; brother, Robert Ryan of CA.
