Funeral services for Valentine McCandless, 91, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:45PM. Valentine died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church or Trinity Pathway Hospice. ValentineVeryzer was born June 25, 1920 in East Moline, the daughter of Oscar and Lucy DeVoss Veryzer. She married Frank Esposito November 8, 1937 in East Moline. He died December 28, 1967. She later married Henry McCandless. He died July 6, 2002. During WWII she had worked as a seamstress at Gibberman's Bros Clothing Company, making uniforms for the military. She later worked at Foremost Meat Market and Tri-City Grocery Store, East Moline. She enjoyed playing cards. She loved her grandchildren deeply. Her favorite singers were Jim Reeves and Marty Robbins. Survivors include her daughter Marie (Tom) Evans of East Moline; grandchildren, Tamela (Lee) Rieck, Darren Evans (Michelle Heaton), Shelly Reynolds, and Damon (Christine) Evans; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
