Velma V. Gingerich, 82, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at her home. Funeral services are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Hampton Township Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Velma Vogler was born May 8, 1936 in East Moline, the only child of Hurd and Norma (Wainwright) Vogler. She married William E. Gingerich on April 14, 1957 in East Moline. He died June 9, 1983. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist, volunteering with the food pantry and preparing meals. She also volunteered for the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. Survivors include her children, Clinton (Vickie) Gingerich, Sherrard, Bradley (Cathy) Gingerich, Taylor Ridge, Meribeth Johnson, East Moline and Jennifer Mehall, Manitwoc, WI, grandchildren, Andrew Johnson, Abigail Kohut, Alexander Johnson, Elizabeth Mehall, William Gingerich, Austin Johnson, Trace Gingerich, Carrie Gingerich, and Grant Gingerich and great-grandchildren, Jack, Sam and Ruby Sue. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Braden.
