Funeral services for Verla J. Masengarb, 76, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at 1st Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Children's Therapy Center, Moline or to 1st Baptist Church, East Moline. Verla passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, West Campus, Rock Island. Verla Ledbetter was born August 1, 1931 in Moline, the daughter of Jim and Adeline (Laird) Ledbetter. She graduated from Moline High School class of 1950. She married Ralph Masengarb on May 22, 1951 in Moline. She had worked as personnel coordinator at Target, Moline and later as a clerk at Davidson Jewelers. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church were she was a deacon and a greeter. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, was a fantastic cook and loved to travel. She found great pleasure spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Ralph, children and spouses; Allen and Amy Masengarb, Silvis, Sandra and Mike Taghon, East Moline and Donald and Cora Masengarb, Port Byron, grandchildren: Jana, Karin, Justin, Nick, Katie, Brian and Eric. Brothers: Robert Ledbetter of Clearwater, FL and Charles Ledbetter of Oquawka, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers William and Richard.
