Victor Mercy, 96, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 12 Noon Thursday at Union Congregational Church, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is from 10:30 AM until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member. Victor was born on March 20, 1921 in East Moline, the son of Andrew and Clara (Rollins) Mercy. He married Betty Terry on April 11, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. She died January 4, 2016. He served in the US Army 101st Paratroopers during WWII. Victor retired from John Deere Experimental. He was good with his hands and enjoyed woodworking. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready to help his friends and neighbors. Vic was a loving and devoted husband. Survivors include his son, Timothy (MaryEllyn) Mercy, Downers Grove, IL, six grandchildren, his great grandchildren and sister, Helen Deopere, Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son Terry, four brothers and 2 sisters.
