Obituary

Virginia Mary Claeys passed away suddenly Saturday, June 25th in Silvis, IL. Virginia was born in Delmar, Iowa on March 16, 1919 to Frank and Bertha (Rasmussen) Kinney. She grew up in Dewitt, Iowa and graduated from Dewitt High School in 1936. Funeral services are 1PM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. She married Joseph Claeys on June 14, 1941. She was very active in rolle bolle. She and Joe spent their winters in Texas after he retired from John Deere. She belonged to several card groups and continued playing cards with friends at the Lighthouse after Joe's illness. She also loved attending family get-togethers and seeing her great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Joseph and two daughters Diane (Edward) Gentry, Canberra, Australia and Lynn (Michael) Colgan of East Moline, IL, three grandchildren Kelly (Chris) Hartweg, Chad (Jill) Colgan and Sean (Rohini) Gentry and six great-grandchildren Linda, Ellen, Jack, Connor, Jackson, Max, Rishi and Emma.
