Funeral services for Virginia G. Powell, 98, of East Moline, IL, will be noon Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Monday. Mrs. Powell died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at New Hope Care Center, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Virginia Summers was born November 21, 1910 in Moline, IL, the daughter of Ora and Elizabeth (Hintz) Summers. She married Fred Wilmer. After his passing she married Joseph Powell May 5, 1950 in Moline. He passed away February 18, 1956. She had worked as a housekeeper at the former Moline Public Hospital, Moline. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, and playing bingo. Survivors include her daughter, Anita Forest of Coal Valley, IL; grandchildren (spouse), Robert J. (Vnya) Powell, Bradley (Cheryl) Powell, Wayne Forest, Debbie (Frank) Vann, and Andrew Forest; great grandchildren (spouse), Robert E. (Jody) Powell, April Shields, Kory Forest, Zachary Powell, and Blake Powell; great great children, Jayden Powell and Kobe Kaskadden; sister Ethel Danneels of East Moline; several nieces and nephews including Frank (Karen) Pouder of East Moline. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Robert R. Powell, brother, Earl Summers, son-in-law, Jerry Forest, and a grandson Lee Forest.
