Funeral services for Rev. Vurl Barbara Liedtke, 88, East Moline, are 10 AM Tuesday at Full Gospel Church of God, East Moline. Burial is in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation is 3-7PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Pastor Vurl entered the Gates of Heaven on July 13, 2007. She was also reunited with her husband Kenneth of 67 years who died on June 16, 2007. Vurl Nicely was born April 16, 1919 at home, the daughter of Jasper and Blanche (Simpson) Nicely. She married Kenneth F. Liedtke on October 21, 1939 in Clinton, IA. Rev. Liedtke, with the assistance of Rev. Frances Wynell Ward, founded the Full Gospel Church of God in 1965 with services held in Vurl's daughter's basement. The congregation purchased the property that housed Rev. Sowers' Community Church, where they held services until the current church was built on the same parcel in 1975. A memorial fund has been established to help the family publish the story of Vurl's ministry and her devotion to the Lord. She enjoyed camping and vacationing with her family. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Joseph Simonich of Geneseo, granddaughter and her husband Rev. Cassie and Stephen Campbell, Silvis, and a sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Lloyd Terhune, High Point, NC. In addition to her husband, Rev. Liedtke is preceded in death by a brother Jim Nicely and her son little Kenny.
