Funeral services for Walter W. Aspelmeier, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:00AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Wapello, IA. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Aspelmeier died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice. Walt was born July 14, 1929 in Mount Pleasant, IA, the son of Elmer and Emeline Jamison Aspelmeier. He married Arlene M. Stanlake October 2, 1949 in Silvis, IL. He later married Beatrice (Stone) Gabel May 27, 1994 in Silvis. She died September 20, 2001. He then married Stella (Claver) Zumwalt June 10, 2008 in East Moline. He retired from the former Plow Planter Works, Moline, in 1987 after 37 years of service. Walt had been a loving husband, father, and "Papa". Survivors include his wife, Stella of East Moline, son, Andrew Apelmeier of Menard, IL; grandson, Brad Beckmann; great granddaughter, Ashley; step-children, Mary Gabel of Davenport, IA, Brenda Gabel of Bettendorf, IA, Rusty Gabel of Davenport, Michele Gabel of Moline, Jason Gabel of Davenport; 9 step grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Junior Rodriguez) Skains of Houston, TX; nephew, Leroy Skains of Houston. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, daughter Judine, an infant child, sisters, Pauline Stapp and Frances Smith, brother, Forest Aspelmeier.
