Walter S. Davis, 83, Silvis, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline with Rev. Stephen Lovelady officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to 1st Baptist Church Building Fund, Silvis. Walter was born April 13, 1928 in Corbin, KY. He married Florence Gertrude "Trudy" Wilcher on December 21, 1949 in Corbin. He retired as a control center operator from John Deere Administration Center after 38 years with the company. Walter served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a 50 year member of 1st Baptist Church Building Fund, Silvis. He enjoyed playing golf, travel and church events. Survivors include his wife Trudy, children and spouses Gregory and Cherie Davis and Paul and Cindy Davis, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and sisters Marie Davids, SC, and Lois McKinney, FL, And numerous nieces and nephews.
