Walter H Knorr, 84, formerly of East Moline, IL, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, IL. Funeral services are 11AM, Monday, January 13, 2014 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, IL, where Military Honors will be presented by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorial s may be made to Moline American Legion where he was a member for many years. Visitation will be one hour before service time at the funeral home. Walter was born April 27, 1929, in Moline, IL, the son of Walter and Doris Paxson Knorr, Sr. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Ella Mae Street on November 30, 1953 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She died in February, 2002. Walter retired in 1994 from Moline Forge Co. He is survived by his children and (spouses) Michael(Barb) Knorr, Rock Falls; Gregory A. (Vanice) Knorr, Kenai, AK; Nancy(Jim) DeCosta, Davenport; Erich T.(Patricia) Knorr Moline, IL; Peggy (Les) Wartmen, Moline; 11 Grandchildren; and several Great Grandchildren; sibblings Dow(Sara) Bancroft and Robert (Ruth) Knorr of Alaska. In addition to his parents and wife, Walter is preceded in death by his son Timothy Scott and daughter Karen Lee. A special thank you to Patty Knorr who was his primary caregiver during recent years.
