Obituary

Funeral services for Walter L. McArtor, 68, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:00AM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 2:00-6:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. McArtor died Sunday, December 20, 2009 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Walt was born June 17, 1941 in Washington, IA, the son of Walter E. and Alice (Wilson) McArtor. He married Claretta Stutzman February 3, 1963 in Sharon Center, IA. He served in the U.S. Navy. He had worked for the Rock Island Lines until it closed. He and his wife then started Interiors by the Sewing Room Inc, East Moline. Walt enjoyed fishing and was an Iowa Hawkeye Fan. He had been a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Claretta McArtor of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Marlinda and David Tank of East Moline, Melissa and Eric Green Wheaton, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Mitchell and Joy McArtor of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Logan and Brady McArtor-Tank, Nicholas and Alexandra McArtor, Brittney, Elias, and Cheyenne Green; mother, Alice Patterson of Keota, IA; brothers, Donald McArtor of Cedar Rapids, IA, Hubert McArtor of McHenry, IL, David McArtor, of West Chester, IA, Bill Patterson of Oxford, IA, John Patterson of Washington, IA, sisters, Sandra Shafer of West Chester, Susan McDonald of Keota, Linda Davis of Washington, Mary Jean Long of Sigourney, IA.
