Walter E. Van Damme, 81, Colona, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at McAllen Heart Center, in McAllen, TX. Memorial services are 10 AM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services (9am). In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center. Walt was born on April 21, 1936, in Ghent, Belgium, the son of Joeseph and Julia (DeVrieze) Van Damme. He was married to Karen Van Damme for 27 years, until her death in 1990. Walt married Linda (Annie) Droste on February 2, 1993. Walt was a carpenter with Local 4, working for 40 years for the Davenport Bank and Trust and other contractors, and retired in 1997. Survivors include his wife, Linda; children and step children Elizabeth (Jim) Marszalek, Fairhope, AL, Matthew (Ellen) Harman, Algonquin, IL, Monica (Mike) LaBrot, Wheaton, IL, Mark (Teresa) Harman, Knoxville, MD, Melissa Hoffman, Indianola, IA, and Mitchel (Kimberly) Harman, Mt. Jackson, VA; and fourteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karen, and brother Julian.
