Funeral services for Wanda L. Highfill, 83, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2-4 and 5-7PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Highfill died Friday, April 28, 2006 at home, surrounded by her family. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, East Moline, IL, where she had been a member. Wanda McLean was born May 29, 1922 in Red Oak, OK, the daughter of John and Mary (Murray) McLean. She married Francis W. Smith in 1937. She later married Linden J. Highfill, November 13, 1953 in Rock Island, IL. He died June 3, 1997. During WWII she had worked for Douglas Air Craft. Wanda was the Matriarch of her family, both with her siblings and her children. She was very hospitable, always putting people at ease. She was an accomplished artist. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. Wanda had strong spiritual beliefs, which helped guide her through life. Survivors include: daughters and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Lang of Moline, IL, Diane and Henry DeBates of East Moline, IL, Terri and Tim Warren of Rock Island, IL, Sharon and Dave Stack of Moline, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Linda Smith of Moline, IL, Larry and Cheri Smith of Carbon Cliff, IL; daughter-in-law, Donna Reynolds of Springfield, IL; son-in-law, Kenny Wishmeyer of Silvis, IL; 22 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marguerite and Duncan McGivern of Silvis, IL, Mickey and Hart Gutherie of Moline, IL, Bootsie VanWassenhove of Moline, IL, Janie Stahl of Moline, IL, Hazel and Ed Morris of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Henry "Bud" McLean of East Moline, IL.
