Wendell R. "Dick" Campbell Sr., 81, Silvis, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 11 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Dick was born July 7, 1933 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Elmer C and Ruth (Treece) Campbell Sr. He married Barbara Thompson on October 18, 1952 in Springfield. Mr. Campbell retired as a sheet metal worker in 1997 after over 40 years with the local 91. He was an avid roller skater and had worked at Skateland in East Moline and Skate Ranch in Milan. In earlier years, Dick was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and had worked as a soda jerk. He was a member of the British Car Club. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara, children (spouses); Wendell R. Campbell Jr., Silvis, Debra (Rick) Roeper, Port Byron, Diane (Don) Erwin, Sheffield, Rhonda (Tracy) VanZuiden, East Moline, Glenn (Tonya) Campbell, Silvis and Mike (Michelle) Campbell, Silvis, sixteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert Campbell, Springfield and a sister, Peggy Evans, Lincoln, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and grandsons, Nathan and Bryce.
