Funeral services for Wilbur E. Verheecke, 85, of Euless, TX, formerly of Hampton, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Verheeecke died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital, Bedford, TX. Memorials may be made to the family. Wilbur was born December 12, 1923 in Sheffield, IL, the son of Andrew and Emily (Bolens) Verheecke. He married Jeany J. Volcke December 6, 1947 in East Moline. She died February 11, 2000. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. He had worked at John Deere Spreader Works East Moline and retired from the John Deere Parts Distribution Warehouse, Milan, IL, after 33 years of total service. He had been a Diehard Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include daughters, Marcia Verheecke of Rock Island, IL, Nancy Dempsey of Euless; grandchildren, Jennifer Dempsey, Giles Verheecke; great grandchildren Ashley, Hailey, Andrew, and Nicholas; special caretaker & friend, Vicki Goering, of Euless; and his best friend "Maggie", his Golden Retriever.
