Graveside services for William Russell Bell, 79, of Rapid City, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Anyone wishing to attend the service should be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, Ill., by 1:30 p.m. Mr. Bell died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Rapid City Regional Hospital, Rapid City. Memorials may be made to family. Mr. Bell was born May 13, 1930, in Mundy Township, Ohio, the son of Clyde and Emma (King) Bell. He married Jacqueline Toppert on December 3, 1955, in Morrison, Ill. She died July 10, 2000. He retired from the former Rock Island Lines, Silvis, Ill., where he had been a switchman. After retirement, he had worked as a custodian for the Moline school district. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Chauncey Ayers, of Chesapeake, Va., Julie D. Bell and Jason Beert, of Rapid City, Amy Bell, of St. Paul, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Olivia Bell, of Waukon, Iowa, Bruce Bell and Michaele Harmon Bell, of Houston, Texas, Brian Bell, of Martinsburg, W. Va.; 10 grandsons. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
