Obituary

William E. Berry, 90, East Moline, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Bill was born on April 14, 1931 in East Moline, the only child of Robert and Vera (Johnston) Berry. He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Emerson on September 5, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Mary Lou died April 21, 2019. Mr. Berry Retired as a Project Engineer from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline in 1985, and continued there as a consultant for another 10 years. Bill served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline and currently at Christ the King Catholic Church. He was a Boy Scout Leader and enjoyed camping. Bill enjoyed playing volleyball, racquetball, running and traveling. Bill's greatest love was his family.

Survivors include his children; William (Diana) Berry, Geneseo, Vera (Rich) Temple, Inverness, FL, Christine (Bruce) York, Grundy Center, IA, Therese (John) VanHyning, Colona, IL and Robert (Dawn) Berry, Colona, sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Robby.

The family would like to thank Hospice and the staff of Illini Restorative Care for their care and compassion.
