William I. "Bill" Smith, Jr., 75, of Colona, IL, passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Burial with military honors will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the funeral home.

William was born March 3, 1948 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of William Sr. and Alice Rule Smith. He graduated from Davenport West High School. He married Linda D. Kozeliski on February 25, 1968 in Moline, IL.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he was an electrician for many years with Farmall, Case IH and lastly with John Deere. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 285.

He was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed collecting beer tappers and bar memorabilia. In earlier years, he coached his son's little league and enjoyed woodworking.

Surviving are his wife, Linda, of Colona; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Becky Smith, St. Louis, MO; daughter-in-law, Judy Smith, Moline; grandchildren, Zach Smith, Avery Smith, Carson Smith and Brady Smith; and sister, Roberta Stegen, Phoenix, AZ.

Bill was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Smith; his parents; and his brother, Robert Smith.
