Funeral services for William J. "Chappie" Blick, 74, Geneseo, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. At Bill's request a closed casket visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Mr. Blick died Monday, November 5, 2007 as a result of a battle with chronic lung and heart disease at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the Faith Walk World Outreach Tuesday Hot Meal Program, Silvis. Chappie was born June 5, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the son of Peter J. and Myrtle (Stowell) Blick. He was raised in East Moline. Bill graduated from Bradley University with a degree in Accounting. He was a US Navy Veteran. He married Katharine "Kay" Lauritzson on April 29, 1961 at St. Pat's, Colona. Bill was currently employed at Reynolds Ford, East Moline, where he has worked for 45 years. He enjoyed his Alabama Golf trips, 50's and 60's music, his 1955 Oldsmobile, caring for animals and had written and published a book on genealogy. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kay, children and spouses; Sherri and Paul Mikles, Hillsdale, Mark and Donna Blick, Cordova, William "BJ" and Jen Blick, Green River, Beth and Chris Collis, Orion and Scott and Kari Blick, Port Byron, grandchildren; Erich, Aaryn, Mark Jr., Peter, Jacob, Zach, Jade, Taelor, Ariana, Jessica, Karissa, Stephanie, Mina and Jason, his best friend since kindergarten Spiro Pappaspiros, his hairless Chinese crested dog Lexi and extended family in the Quad-Cities and Chicago area.
