Funeral services for William "Bill" "Breezy" Hetzel 90, of Colona, IL, will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 10th,at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Mr. Hetzel passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Genesis Silvis.
Bill was born August 30, 1933, in Hancock County, IL, the son of Lester and Geraldine Magin Hetzel. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He married Judy Mumpower June 21, 1959, in Ferris, IL. He retired from Navistar International after 28 years of service.
Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and keeping his family on their toes! He also enjoyed "hearing the message" at church and finishing grace with…"And they all said AMEN!"
He was the Grand Master of the Colona Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Silvis Lodge. Bill also loved playing the bugle for the Colona American Legion Honor Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Judy; sons, Mark (Theresa) Hetzel, Colona, and Michael Hetzel, Colona; grandchildren, Jamie (Marlon) Peppers, April (Kenny) Musser, Alicia (Lucas) Jones, Sheena (Jonathon) Buckley, Nicholaus Hetzel and Jennifer (Erick) Meyers; 15 great grandchildren, Addysen and Brantley, Hayden, Landis, and Conner, Ella and Morgan, Aaron and James, Cameron and Caleb, Gaige, Gavin,Trevor, and Madisyn; and a brother, Gary Hetzel, Monmouth, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Donald Hetzel, Joyce Kreps, Carroll Hetzel, and Vera Longnecker.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to The Colona American Legion Honor Guard or Colona First Baptist Church.
