Mr. Bollaert died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at UnityPoint Health, Rock Island. Bill was born to Dr. F. E. & Marion Dalton Bollaert on July 8, 1924 in Moline, and raised in East Moline. He married Katherine "Kay" Andon August 13, 1949, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. They raised their 8 children and lived out the rest of their lives in the house they hand built in Silvis. Bill was an alumnus of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Illinois. During World War II, he served for the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for most of his career and he also taught nutrition classes at Black Hawk and Scott Community Colleges. In his limited spare time, he was very active in the Boy Scouts, AMVETS, Rotary, U.T.H.S. School Board, Illini Hospital Board, St. Anne's Catholic Church, Willow Springs Swim Club, Rock Island County Board of Health and Hampton Township. For over 70 years, Bill was a very active member of the YMCA. In addition, he was a fantastic gardener, life-long learner, jack of all trades with an obsessive sweet tooth. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame football and Gonzaga basketball, loved to travel with Kay and completed several missionary trips to the South Pacific Islands. Bill was a proud grandpa, who never missed his grandchildren's activities. His sense of humor was trumped only by his appreciation of desserts.
