William E. Ferry, 89, Moline, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island. Visitation is 5-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Private family committal will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the East End Boulders Club. Bill was born January 7, 1929 in Moline, the son of William and Irene (Miller) Ferry. Bill went to state 3 years in a row for golf, before graduating from Moline High School. He married Virginia Gaines on July 31, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. She died October 14, 2015. He retired in the mid 1990's as a plasterer for UAW local 26. He enjoyed games, especially picks, rolle bolle and horse shoes. He was also a pigeon flyer. Everything Bill did was done to perfection. Survivors include his children, Mike Ferry (Grace Bolin) Davison, MI, Tim (Debbie) Ferry, Moline, Luann (Jack) Swan, Sherrard and Brian Ferry, San Antonio, TX, 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, and a son-in-law, Kent Maeglin. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, daughter, Lori Maeglin, son William Ferry, infant son, David Ferry and great granddaughter, Addie Swanson.
