Funeral services for William Graver Jr., 99, Colona, are 2PM Tuesday at Colona United Methodist Church, Colona. Burial is in Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation is from 1PM until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Colona Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Graver died Saturday, July 24, 2010 at his home. He was born March 16, 1911 in Ewing, NE, the son of William and Effie Mae (Jones) Graver. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1929. Bill worked as a ranch hand in Western Nebraska for 3 years, then moved to Cantrell IA, in 1932 and worked as a mechanic at a Farmall dealership. He married Elaine Larson on November 26, 1937 in Ewing. Bill retired from the former International Harvester Works, East Moline, in 1971 after nearly 34 years with the company. He was 1st Magistrate for the city of Green Rock and had served as a justice of the Peace in Henry county from 1950-1961. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was a volunteer fireman and served as a trustee for the Colona Fire Department for 22 years. He had been a member of the Green Rock Sr. Center since 1982. Bill was fondly referred to as the Bicycle Repairman in the Colona Area. Survivors include his children; William Graver III of Springfield, OH, and Terry Graver of Colona, grandchildren William Graver IV, and Tamra Hartsock, and a great grandson Alex. He was preceded in death by his wife Elaine and four brothers and 4 sisters.
