Obituary

Graveside services for William F. Heitmann, 76, Hot Springs, AK, are 2PM today(Friday) at St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Mr. Heitmann died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. At Bill's request there will be no visitation and his body will be cremated. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Trinity Hospice. He was born July 7, 1930 in Spring Valley, IL, the son of William and Frances (Rivara) Heitmann. He married Maxine E. Cornellis, October 29, 1949 in Alameda, CA, where he was serving in the US Navy. Bill retired from ALCOA, Bettendorf in 1990 as an Electrical Foreman. After retirement he moved to Diamond Head Resort, Hot Springs. There he sat on the financial and architectural committees. He was able to play golf at the private course and fish on Lake Catherine. He also enjoyed cooking and making stained glass. He was commissioned by the Diamond Head Community Church to design and make the stained glass windows for their church. Mr. Heitmann was active with Diamond Head's Lions Club, receiving Lion of the Year twice. Survivors (and spouses) include daughters; Kathy Cogdill, Moline, Kris (Roy) Oltman, Joliet, grandchildren; Kyle (Mindy) Cogdill, Kory Cogdill and Kala (Brad) Hulke, great grandchildren; Kaden Cogdill and Clair Hulke, sister JoAnn (Dick) Smith, niece Debbie Anderson and special friend Doris Navarro.
