Funeral services for William Paul Mattan, 59, of Fountain Hills, AZ formerly of Green Rock, IL and Omaha, NE, will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, IL. Interment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be held at 6:30. Mr. Mattan died Friday, August 11, 2006 at his home in Fountain Hills, AZ, surrounded by his family, after a three year battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Foundation, 22 Battery St. Suite 612, San Francisco, CA 94111 or online at www.braintumor.org. Services were held Monday at Messinger Funeral Home in Fountain Hills, AZ. Bill was born October 20, 1946 in Moline, IL, the son of Albert and Mary (Verschor) Mattan. He was a graduate of United Township High School, East Moline, IL. He served in the US Marine Corp during the Viet Nam War. He married Cynthia Lee Lindstrom February 14, 1997 in Maui, HI. Bill spent his whole working life in the banking business. He was president and CEO of Marine Bank, in Scottsdale, AZ, Omaha, NE, and Henderson, NV. He retired in 2004. Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia Mattan of Fountain Hills, AZ; daughter, Trisha Mattan of Lake Havasu City, AZ; son and daughter-in-law, Chadwick and Hally Mattan of Prairie Village, KS; stepfather, Everett Johnson of Silvis; sister and brother-in-law, Sandi and David Oliver of Rock Island, IL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Donna Mattan of Dubuque, IA, David and Buanita Mattan of Erie, IL; many nieces and nephews; his loving dog, Basia (that he thought a great deal of ). He is preceded in death by his parents.
