Wilma O. Rios, 82, of East Moline, IL, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at her home in East Moline.

A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. A Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 7th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests memorials be made to Believers Together, Moline, or to Q.C. Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL.

Wilma Olga Arredondo was born September 13, 1942, in Oruro, Bolivia, to Gastón and Elsa (Millán) Arredondo. She married Fernando Rios on June 4, 1966, in Iowa City, Iowa.

She will be fondly remembered as a devoted and loving wife and mother. In addition to being a homemaker and caring for her family, she was a 39-year breast cancer survivor (1986), and later worked for Metrobank in East Moline for many years.

Wilma was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was active in Cursillo, TEC, and CFM. She enjoyed traveling, walking along the Mississippi river, reading, enjoying the morning newspaper and crossword puzzles.

Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her husband, Fernando, of East Moline; children, Fernando Emilio (Thalia) Rios, Wilma Lucia Rios, East Moline, and Gonzalo Adolfo Rios, Santa Barbara, CA; siblings, Gaston Arredondo, New Jersey, Ruth Arredondo, Cochabamba, Bolivia, and Gonzalo Arredondo, La Paz, Bolivia; and their families; and her grand-cat Chiquitina.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Gaston and Elsa; and sisters, Sara Rudershausen and Elsa Orías.
