Alan R. DeLaere, 65, Silvis, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. A celebration of Alan's life will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials can be made to the family for distribution to local youth sports. Alan was born December 5, 1948 in Moline, the son of Albert and Ella May (Pisman) DeLaere. He graduated from UTHS, class of 1966. He married Deborah Ruby on February 22, 1969 in East Moline. He retired as a sheet metal worker from Crawford CO., Rock Island after 38 years. Alan had a passion for coaching young people and was an avid golfer. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Survivors include his wife Debbie, sons, Marc (Robin) DeLaere, LeRoy, IL, and Eric DeLaere, Davenport, daughter-in-law Priscilla DeLaere, Pekin, IL, grandchildren Torin, Taylor and Colin, his mother Ella May Winger, East Moline, and sisters, Dawn (Jerry) Daugherty, East Moline and Dinah (Dave) Leibovitz, Silvis, and sister-in-law, Lynn DeLaere, Silvis. He was preceded in death by is father, Albert DeLaere, step-father, Don Winger and his brother Richard. The family wishes to thank Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for their compassion and care.
