Alfonso G. Guerra

Alfonso G. Guerra, 90, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022 at River Crossing, Moline, IL.

A memorial visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. A Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Inurnment will be at a later date in Mexico. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Alfonso was born May 20, 1932 in Torreon, Mexico, a son of Refugio and Juanita Garcia Guerra. He was previously married to Leonor Soto, and later to Rita Martinez. Following his marriages, he shared a special friendship and companionship with Mary E. Ramos for many years.

He was employed for thirty-six years at Oscar Mayer, Davenport. He retired in 2004. After retiring from Oscar Mayer, he worked 10 years at Bridgeway.

Some of his favorite times were those spent with friends and family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and following their sports activities. He was an avid Santos Lagunas soccer fan and Chicago Cubs fan.

Surviving are his children, Ana Bertha Guerra Soto, Maria Mallela Guerra Soto, Martin Guerra, Joseph Guerra, Sonya (Ramon) Conception Ramos, Juanita Marie Ramos and Natalie (Rick) Guerra Cortez; twenty-three grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Alfonso was preceded in death by his parents; son, Luis Alfonso Guerra; siblings, Ruben Guerra Garcia, Rosaura Guerra Garcia, Trinidad Guerra Garcia and Cervando Guerra Garcia; grandson, Luis Carlos Guerra; aunt, Francisa Garcia; nephew, Alfonso Garcia; and cousin, Gullermo Martinez Guerra.
