In Loving Memory of Arron “Chet” Howat (November 14, 1968 - July 24, 2023)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arron Howat, a cherished member of our community, who left us all too soon on July 24, 2023. Arron's departure has left a void in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him, but we take comfort in the beautiful memories he leaves behind.

In his formative years, Arron attended United Township High School (class of ‘87), where he thrived both academically and athletically. He had a great love for sports, particularly football and wrestling, and his talent and dedication earned him letters of distinction in both, and a college scholarship. His competitive spirit and sportsmanship were admired by teammates and opponents alike.

Following his passion for service, Arron proudly joined the Army National Guard, where he selflessly served his country with honor and commitment. His unwavering dedication to duty and his brothers and sisters in arms exemplified his admirable character.

Arron's devotion extended beyond his military service; he was a loving partner, devoted father, and dedicated brother. He leaves behind his partner Dawn Imel; they shared a loving bond together later in life that took them exploring throughout the Midwest and enjoying home in the Quad Cities. Their deep connection was built on deep acceptance, love and admiration. They were “perfectly imperfect.”

His beloved daughter, Annabelle, whose life he enriched with boundless love and wisdom. As a father, he was a pillar of strength, guidance, and unwavering support. Their memories of driving cross country, gas station runs and countless room filling laughs will always be cherished.

In addition to his daughter and partner, Arron is survived by his brother, Terry (Illinois). The bond they shared was one of deep affection and camaraderie, and their memories together will be remembered forever.  Also survived by his half-sister, Anita Benton (Colorado).

Academically accomplished, Arron graduated from the College of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. He furthered his education at DeVry University, where he earned advanced degrees in Computer Engineering. His thirst for knowledge and determination to excel in his chosen field were evident in his remarkable achievements.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Arron embraced life to the fullest. He found joy in simple pleasures and was known for his appreciation of good cigars, fine bourbon, and the company of friends. His vibrant personality and zest for life were contagious, lighting up every room he entered.

Arron's warm smile, caring nature, and the unwavering support he offered to those around him will be dearly missed. He touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

As we bid farewell to Arron Howat, we honor the legacy he leaves behind. Let us remember the joy he brought into our lives and the lessons he imparted through his exemplary character. May we find solace in the knowledge that Arron's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and inspired.

A celebration of life service to celebrate the life of Arron Howat will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, starting at 5pm at Whiskey Stop in East Moline, IL.  There will be an additional celebration of life service later in November to allow for family and friends who are out of town to join in remembering Arron. All are invited to pay their respects and share cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Remember the Fallen, a cause close to Arron's heart.   Please go to https://rememberthefallen.net/ > donate > in the comment put “in memory of Arron Howat.”
