Christopher “CJ” Rangel, 58, of Hampton passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. A private service will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Silvis at a later date. Memorials can be made in care of the family.
CJ was born on September 27, 1964 in Moline, a son of Ernie and Jean (Evans) Rangel. He married Rabecca “Becky” Guinn on January 9, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. He worked as a security supervisor for Bally’s Casino of the Quad Cities, formerly Jumer’s Casino.
CJ was a member of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Silvis. His hobbies included gardening, landscaping, watching ghost shows, and spending time with his grandkids. He had a big heart and was a very selfless person. He always made sure others needs came before his own. One of his biggest accomplishments in life was being honored as employee of the year in 2017 after performing CPR and saving someone’s life at the casino.
Those left to cherish CJ’s memory include his wife, Becky Rangel; sons, Niklas (Tamara) Guinn, Steven (Stephanie) Rangel, and Jacob Schwartz; grandchildren, Oliver and Adyn Rangel, Kellan Guinn, Ethan Dodd, and Khloe, Julianna, and Alexis Guinn; brothers, Greg and Alex Rangel; mother in law, Margo Guinn; brother in law, George (Anne) Guinn; and he was a proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Christopher has now been reunited with his parents and brother, Anthony “Tony” Rangel.
