Clara E. Stephens, 82, East Moline, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Memorial services are 4PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation is from 2PM until service time. Private committal will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Clara Rygg was born on January 27, 1934 in Superior, WI, the daughter of Olof and Rose (White) Rygg. She married Robert Stephens on May 18, 1951 in East Moline. He died on September 10, 2014. She was an accomplished Hair Designer, working from the early 1960's until retiring from United Hair-ways, Silvis in 1993. Clara was a pioneer in her field, and won multiple awards for her hair designs. She and Bob retired to Florida and lived there for 13 years, moving back to the Quad Cities in 2007. She enjoyed crafts, painting crocheting and dearly loved family. Her personality was very strong. She was loving, kind, sassy and vivacious to all who knew her. Survivors include daughters, Debra Banaszek, Rock Island, and Dawn (Bob) Orr, Cedar Rapids, IA, grandchildren, Alissa Banaszek, Rock Island, Amber Orr, Cedar Rapids, and Steven Orr, Springfield, MO; siblings, Bridgette Cook(Larry Stickel), East Moline, William (Sharmaine) McAlpine, Centerville, IA, Richard (Lori) Rygg, WI, Kerry Rygg, KS; special nephews, Larry Stickel, East Moline, David Stickel, TX and special niece, Bobbie (Ken) Versluis, Viola, IL. She was preceded by her parents, step-parents, her husband, daughter, Jill Ann Sodeman-Stephens, sister, Joanne Marie Irwin and brothers, James and Tom Rygg.
