Funeral services for Erasmo "Eddie" Tapia Jr., 73, of Coal Valley, IL, will be 10:00AM Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:00PM. Mr. Tapia died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Genesis, Silvis. Eddie was born September 12, 1941 in Mexico, the son of Erasmo and Nicholasa Pizano Tapia Sr. He married Peggy L. Keim October 21, 1964, in East Moline. He had worked for Frank Foundry, Moline, IL, and retired from Black Hawk Foundry in 2006. He always read his newspaper and kept up on current events. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved spoiling his daughter's cats. Survivors include his daughter, Penny Tapia, Coal Valley; son, Erasmo Tapia III, Coal Valley; sisters, Isabel (Andres) Tapia de Orsorio, Baja, CA, Maria Tapia, Cancun, Mexico, and Sylvia (Elias) Tapia de Carrillo, Monterey, Mexico; brothers, Rodrigo (Luisa) Tapia, East Moline, Maximiliano "Max" (Penny) Tapia, Hampton, IL, Nicholas ( Georgia) Tapia, WI, Antonio (Lourdes) Tapia, San Antonio, TX, Raul (Graciela) Tapia, Rafael (Lucy) Tapia, and Jesus (Maria) Tapia, all of Monterey; special friend, Eleanor Logas, Davenport, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jose, Manuel, Margarito, Miguel (Tammy) Tapia; his special cat, "Gordo." In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
