Janet R. Maddelein, 86, of Moline, IL, passed away Thursday August 10, 2023, at her home in Moline.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 14, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary’ s Cemetery, East Moline. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the family to be designated later.
Janet Rhae Hauman was born March 29, 1937, in Clinton, Iowa, a daughter of Henry and Ellen Pollard Hauman. She attended Colona schools and graduated from UTHS, East Moline. She married Albert Maddelein on February 2, 1954, in Colona, IL. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2007.
Janet was a CNA and private duty nurse for many years.
She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Catholic Church, East Moline, and now a member of Christ the King Church, Moline. In her younger years, she enjoyed being involved in the church and Saint Rita’s Circle. As a mom she enjoyed being involved in her children’s school activities, Cub Scouts, and sports.
Janet was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching wrestling with her family.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Rovanna and Mike Hahn, East Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Sherry Maddelein, Moline; grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) O’Toole, Matt Hahn, Dalton (Rebecca) Maddelein and Breanna Maddelein; great grandson, William Hahn; special niece with whom she was very close, Kim Carter, and several additional nieces and nephews and their families; and special cousin, who was like a sister to her, Carol (Ray) VanGoethem.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Donna Ohrberg, Karen Aguilar and Linda Pisman; and a niece, Jill Pisman.
