Obituary

Jerome F. Cacari JR, 82, Silvis, decided to upgrade to the ultimate accommodations with our Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by love Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Visitation will be at 10 am on Tuesday, March 21st followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial with military honors will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island following the funeral.

Memorials may be made to the family and will be donated to a non-profit organization in his honor.

Jerome was born April 14, 1940 in Horton, KS, the son of Geronimo and Maria (Garcia) Cacari Sr. A graduate of United Township High School, Jerome earned his varsity letter in wrestling. In 1960, Jerome proudly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, Semper Fi. He married Mary Lou Small in 1976. Jerome lived out his passion of fixing and working on cars while employed at Auto Zone. He had a deep love for music and an uncanny sense of humor. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Bears fan. Jerome’s biggest love was for his family whom he cherished spending time with.

Jerome is survived by his daughter, Jolene (Michelle) Ramsey-Moody; sisters: Ramona (Lawrence) Stone and Rose (Erachio) Valdivia; multiple stepchildren; grandchildren: Mellissa (Mike) Hendrickx, Ashleigh Axnix, Megan White, Kylie (fiancé, Omar Perez) Ramsey-Moody, Christopher Ramsey-Moody, Brittney Fitzpatrick, and Damian Ramsey-Moody; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a great-great child.

He has been reunited with his wife Mary Lou Cacari, siblings: Elizabeth (Henry) Reyes, Max (Irene) Cacari, Jack (Benny) Cacari, Georgia (Rudy) Rocha, Lupe (Ray) Urrutia, Pete Cacari, Theresa Cruz, Paul A. Cacari, stepdaughter Christyne White Dzekunskas and 7 great-grandchildren: Alex, Angel, Blue, Hannah, Heaven, Noah and Nova.

A special thank you to the phenomenal staff at Aspen Rehab Nursing Home & ProMedica Hospice! Our family will forever be grateful for the amazing care and dedication.
